Whole, half & quarter animals

Stock your freezer once. Eat well all year.

Buying a whole, half, or quarter animal is the most economical way to put pasture-raised meat on your table. You pay less per pound, you choose your cuts, and you know exactly where your food came from.

We process every month. We price on packaged weight. We cover all processing costs. No surprises.

Why Anavery for bulk meat

Priced on what you take home

We price on packaged weight — the actual meat in your freezer — not on hanging weight. Many farms charge on hanging weight, which means you pay for water loss, trimming, and bones you don't keep. We cover all processing costs. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Available every month, not just seasonally

We process animals every month of the year. Most small farms process seasonally — meaning you reserve in spring and wait until fall. With us, your order is typically available immediately or within 2–3 weeks. No months-long wait.

Cut the way you want it

We work with you to cut your animal however you prefer — more ground, thicker steaks, specific roast sizes. Not sure what you want? We'll advise you on our favorite mix of cuts. Every order is tailored to how your household actually cooks.

Which program is right for you?

All three programs are raised without growth hormones or antibiotics. The difference is feeding method, fat content, and flavor profile. Not sure? Our farm store staff can help.

Understanding the three weights

Meat is weighed at three stages from farm to freezer. We price on packaged weight — what you actually take home — and we cover all processing costs.

1

Live weight

The weight of the animal before slaughter. Not used in our pricing.

2

Hanging weight

After slaughter, with hide, head, and organs removed. Many farms price here — you pay for weight that never makes it to your freezer. We don’t price this way.

3

Packaged weight

The actual meat in your freezer after aging, cutting, and trimming. This is what we price on. No processing fees on top. What we quote is what you pay.
Animal Avg. Hanging Weight Packaged Weight Yield
Beef (whole) ~750 lb ~525 lb ~70%
Pork (whole) ~250 lb ~175 lb ~70%
Lamb (whole) ~95 lb ~53 lb ~56%

Actual yields vary slightly depending on the animal and your cutting preferences.

How much freezer space do you need?

A good rule of thumb: 1 cubic foot per 30–40 lb of meat.

Order Freezer Space Needed
Quarter beef (~130 lb) 3–4 cubic feet
Half hog (~85 lb) 2.5–3 cubic feet
Whole lamb (~50 lb) ~2 cubic feet
Half beef (~265 lb) 7–8 cubic feet
A standard chest freezer (7–10 cubic feet) handles most orders and costs $150–200 new. It pays for itself immediately on the savings from buying in bulk.

How long will it keep?

Vacuum sealed and properly frozen, our meat keeps well beyond a typical household’s consumption rate.

Beef 12+ months
Pork 9–12 months
Lamb 9–12 months

Each package is vacuum sealed and labeled with cut name, weight, and processing date for easy freezer organization.
